Google’s all-new Pixel 4 and 4 XL

Google announced the highly anticipated new Pixel 4 and 4 XL during its #MadebyGoogle event on October 15th, along with other awesome up-and-coming Google technology. With upgraded camera hardware, the introduction of Motion Sense, and a new limited-edition color, this is Google’s most impressive device yet.

Let’s dive into the exciting features of the new Pixel 4 and 4 XL.

Color and Display

The Pixel 4 and 4 XL comes in three colors: Just Black, Clearly White, and a new, limited-edition color called Oh So Orange. The always-on Smooth Display features a 90Hz refresh rate, which reduces blur and makes the display super crisp and clear. Early users of the Pixel 4 have said they can immediately tell a difference compared to other smartphones.

Another new feature, called Ambient EQ, adjusts the color temperature of the screen to match your environment. Not only is this easier on your eyes, but it can help you sleep better at night, too.

Improved Camera Software

The Pixel 4 and 4 XL’s new square camera module holds two rear-facing cameras and one front-facing camera. The first rear-facing camera has 12MP and a 77-degree field of view, which supports the new wider-angle portrait mode feature. The second rear-facing camera boasts a 16MP “Super Res Zoom” telephoto lens, which allows users to take high-quality photos while zoomed in. The 8MP front-facing camera boasts an even wider field of view – 90-degrees!

In addition to the studio-quality cameras, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL stepped up their software game. Improved Night Sight allows you to turn a dark room into a work of art. Plus, it can now take longer-exposure shots of the night sky and illuminate the Milky Way. The Pixel 4 also offers dual-exposure controls and white balancing, taking computational photography to the next level.

Face Unlock and Motion Sense

The results are in – the Pixel 4 and 4 XL has the fastest Face Unlock feature on the market. Early users claim it’s so fast, you barely see the lock screen at all.

Plus, with a new radar sensor chip at the top of the phone, you can perform Quick Gestures to change songs, snooze alarms and more. This new technology is called Motion Sense and essentially allows you to use your Pixel 4 hands-free. It uses radar to sense motion, detecting when you’re about to pick up the phone, walk away from it, and several other programmed motions. Though Motion Sense only allows you to complete a handful of features right now, Google has plans to keep building on what it can do in the future.

New Google Assistant

Google Assistant got a huge facelift this time around. It can still help you set reminders and reply to messages, but now integrates better with your favorite apps.

There are some other really awesome features with the Pixel 4 and 4 XL, like live transcription with the speech recorder and enhanced security features, but what are you waiting for – go check it out for yourself at your nearest Cellular Sales location!
