Customer satisfaction through meaningful, in-person interaction has always been a cornerstone of Dane Scism’s vision for Cellular Sales. It’s this commitment to service that has distinguished our CEO along with the company itself, transforming what was once a small local business into the country’s premier Verizon retail partner.
Since buying Cellular Sales in 1993 with his wife, Margaret, Dane’s leadership has resulted in tremendous growth and success. From a single shopping center location and a handful of mall kiosks in East Tennessee, we have since expanded to hundreds of stores across the country. He has brought more productivity per door than any other agent within Verizon’s indirect channel. Dane’s effective and inspiring leadership style was featured in Jeb Blount’s best-selling book, “People Follow You: The Real Secret to Inspiring Your Team to Take Action.”
Dane holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. In 2014, he was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by UT’s Haslam School of Business. He has served on the board of directors for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and the executive cabinet for the United Way campaign for East Tennessee.
JT Thome has a history of fostering exceptional growth through intelligent business leadership. As COO of Cellular Sales, JT oversees several vital aspects of the company, including store operations, technology, supply chain and logistics, and the national call center. Since 2010, his experience has helped in guiding our expansion to hundreds of stores across the country, and in making Cellular Sales the nation’s premier Verizon Wireless retailer.
Following his service in the US Army, JT managed AT&T’s global support call center before moving into data networking and acquisition sales. His record of success goes on to include joining the original WebMD start-up team, where he held several executive-level positions, including VP of Product Management, as the health information services giant grew to reach over 100 million people a month and over $1 billion in revenue. As Senior VP of e-Commerce, then CIO, at Jewelry Television, his team increased website sales from 8% to 24%. During his time as COO at Textbooks.com, his implementation of key technology, analytics, and marketing platforms led to 68% growth year after year. Today, JT’s leadership is helping our team at Cellular Sales navigate the unique opportunities and challenges of scaling for an evolving telecommunications retail industry.
JT has earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Emory University.
As CFO, Pam White’s financial and strategic direction has helped to transform Cellular Sales into a thriving national retailer. Since first joining the organization as Director of Accounting, and now as Chief Financial Officer, Pam has provided outstanding leadership to ensure the health and effectiveness of our financial, accounting, and human resources departments.
Pam has previously served as CFO and VP of Finance for Aeroflex USA, Inc., where she oversaw a growth factor of 300% that took the international joint venture start-up from $2 million to $20 million in just five years. Her expertise in planning and analytical insight at Cellular Sales has similarly fostered tremendous growth throughout the company and increased shareholder wealth.
Pam is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from University of Tennessee-Knoxville, along with an MBA from Lincoln Memorial University. She also sits on several committees dedicated to promoting local businesses and networking, including the Executive Women’s Association and Leadership Knoxville.
Brett Patterson is the Executive Vice President of Sales for Cellular Sales.
The breadth of Brett’s experience in Sales and Sales Management spans three decades. His professional background also includes Business Link, a digital retail enterprise that he owned and operated before selling in 2005, and serving as President of BL3 Ventures, a real estate holding company. Before Cellular Sales, his work at Ultimate Software as a sales executive helped to grow the business to $4.3 billion.
Brett has earned a B.S. from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He also serves as Director of the PB & JAM Foundation, a philanthropic fund that supports local and national charities, scholarships, disaster relief, research, and more.
Reese Thomas has over 20 years of business and legal experience, the wealth of which he brings to the table as Cellular Sales’ General Counsel. In his role, Reese advises our executive team on all legal matters and works to protect the company’s interests and reputation.
In addition to his previous work as a corporate lawyer for Knoxville firm, Egerton McAfee, Reese has served as COO and CEO of TIS Insurance Services, Inc. His firm, RKT LAW, PLLC, focused on corporate, real estate, and employment law. As an adjunct professor at UT Law School, he taught contract drafting, sharing his knowledge with future lawyers.
