Hey Siri, play “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars. August 10th is National Lazy Day! Who doesn’t want to celebrate an awesome holiday like that? There are tons of different ways to take it easy, but we have some suggestions that will make your lazy day a million times more enjoyable. So kick back, relax and check out these products and apps built to help you chill.
Turn on “Do Not Disturb”
It can be hard to resist those blinking notification bubbles and the buzzing in your pocket. If you want a day of uninterrupted leisure time, the Do Not Disturb feature on your smartphone is a great tool for that. Do Not Disturb mutes all incoming calls and notifications, so you won’t be bothered while you relax. You can adjust your settings to only mute certain apps or contacts, to turn on or off during certain time periods and more.
Stream Your Favorite TV Shows and Movies
Sometimes the best way to unwind is to plop down on the couch with some snacks and binge watch your favorite TV show. With streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube TV, your choices are endless!
You don’t have to be tied to the couch to watch your favorite shows and movies, though. With a tablet, you can stream whatever you want, wherever you want. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or snuggled up in bed, your binge watching doesn’t have to stop. Visit your nearest Cellular Sales store to see how you can add a tablet to your wireless plan.
Chill Out to the Music You Love
If listening to music is your preferred way to relax, put in those earbuds and check out Apple Music. With Apple Music, you can stream any of the 50 million songs in the catalog at your discretion. Plus, you can create your own playlists or choose from hundreds of curated playlists based on mood, genre, listening history and more. Even if you’re not an Apple user, you can still stream your heart out – Apple Music is now available in the Google Play Store.
A free subscription to Apple Music is included in select Verizon Unlimited wireless plans, so pop in to any Cellular Sales store to learn more!
Stay In, Order Out
Don’t want to cook or leave the house for dinner? There are plenty of food delivery websites and apps you can use to bring a delicious meal right to your doorstep.
Grubhub (iOS & Android) has over 115,000 restaurants to choose from (depending on your city) and offers exclusive deals and discounts through the app. Just find a restaurant, add the menu items you want to your cart, enter your address and wait for your food to arrive!
DoorDash (iOS & Android) also provides plenty of restaurant options with no order minimums.
There are even apps that deliver groceries directly to your door. Shipt (iOS & Android) allows you to browse local stores you love, like Target and Costco, shop for what you need and select a delivery time, sometimes as soon as one hour after you order. You don’t have to beat the crowd or stand in line at the grocery store to get the fresh groceries you need.
Play Silly Games on Your Phone
Looking for something simple and easy to do to relax? Happy Color (iOS & Android) is a color-by-number app that brings you back to your childhood. Just tap the spaces to color them in and watch your picture come to life.
Woody Block Puzzle (iOS & Android) is another soothing game you can play to relax and recharge. You’re given a 10×10 board where you place wooden block pieces. When you complete a row or column, the blocks are cleared so you have more room to play. Consider yourself warned, though – it can be addictive!
Remember Flappy Bird, the game that took app stores by storm around 2014? Even though you can’t download it anymore, Flappy Dunk (iOS & Android) is an equally entertaining alternative. It’s the exact same concept, but with a sports twist. Tap the flying basketball to keep it in the air and even toss it through some hoops. If you drop it, you have to start all over again.
You’ve got so many ways to be lazy on National Lazy Day. We hope you make the most of it!
And when all else fails… just take a nap.
