Being stuck at home doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the most anticipated movie releases of the Spring.
Movie theaters across the country have temporarily closed to encourage social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but in response, many upcoming films are being released early for streaming so viewers can watch from the comfort of home.

Artemis Fowl

Originally set to premiere in theaters on May 29, 2020, Artemis Fowl will instead make its debut on the Disney+ streaming platform.
Emma.

Emma., based on a novel of the same name written by Jane Austen, made its theatrical debut on February 21, 2020, so you may have caught it in theaters. However, due to the mass closure of movie theaters, it was released for online purchase on platforms like iTunes and Prime Video in mid-March.
Frozen 2

Though Frozen 2 was released in theaters in late November 2019, it wasn’t set to hit Disney+ until Summer 2020. Due to the pandemic, Disney made it available for streaming on March 17, 2020.
The Hunt

Originally, The Hunt’s initial release date was scheduled for late September 2019. Due to controversy surrounding the film, it was canceled and re-scheduled for March 13, then released for online purchase or rental on March 20.
The Invisible Man

This Blumhouse thriller debuted in theaters on February 24, 2020 but was released for digital purchase by Universal three weeks later. Viewers can rent the film for $19.99 on iTunes, Prime Video and more.
Onward

Disney and Pixar’s latest animated film, Onward, was made available for streaming on Disney+ just two weeks after its theatrical release.
Sonic: The Hedgehog

Released in theaters nationwide on Valentine’s Day, Sonic: The Hedgehog has been established as the highest-grossing video game film in U.S. box office history. If you want to check it out for yourself, you can find the family-friendly adventure film on iTunes, Google Play, Prime Video and more.
Trolls World Tour

Universal & DreamWorks’ Trolls World Tour was originally scheduled for theatrical release on April 10 but chose to release the film digitally and for streaming instead. DreamWorks also released an “activity kit” for viewers to download and print from home, including DIY decorations, recipes, games and more.
Postponed Indefinitely
Mulan
The live-action adaption of the original Disney film was scheduled to debut in theaters on March 27, 2020. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Disney decided to move the release date to July 24, 2020.
A Quiet Place 2
The sequel to A Quiet Place was set to release on March 20, 2020. However, the writer and director John Krasinski announced on his Instagram that the film would be postponed indefinitely “til we can all see it together.”
No Time to Die
No Time to Die, which will be Daniel Craig’s fifth and final performance as James Bond, planned its original release in April 2020. In light of the pandemic, it’s been rescheduled for November 25, 2020.
In the Heights
This film adaptation of the Broadway musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes was initially announced to be theatrically released on June 26, 2020 but has been postponed until further notice.
