Wireless tech 2021 launches that made an impact

The devices we know today are a far cry from the first models in the history of smartphones. 2021 saw innovative flagship phones and exciting launches from the industry’s most popular cell phone brands.

Apple

At the iPhone 13 launch, we learned about Apple’s newest line of smartphones. The iPhone 13 series brought Super Retina XDR displays, ProMotion, improved battery life, and 5G performance.

Google

The Google Pixel 6 launch debuted Tensor, Google’s first processor, which is available on both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The reconfigured camera strip, sensors that capture 150% more light, and Motion Erase software provide social-perfect pictures in almost any environment.

Motorola

In addition, motorola unveiled the edge 5G UW, a 6.8″ entertainment powerhouse. The edge’s Ready For feature enables you to make video calls, play games, and use your favorite apps on the big screen.

Samsung

New Samsung phones included the foldable and eye-catching Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G. These smartphones offer form factors that are both new and nostalgic, with viewing and functionality available whether opened or closed.

The introduction of Verizon 5G changed the game

Verizon 5G provided a more powerful way to stay connected. With blazing fast upload and download times, and near-zero lag, 5G Nationwide and 5G Ultra Wideband brought staggering speed and performance to over 230 million people.

Whether working from home on your reliable iPad 9th Gen or video conferencing on the Samsung S21 Ultra 5G‘s high contrast 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED display, the leap forward in wireless tech gave users more seamless and immersive ways to collaborate, share, and stay in touch.

5G has made entertainment and gaming more accessible and enjoyable as well, with smoother, high-res video on services like Disney+ and YouTube TV.

Smartwatches

In 2021, we saw the best smartwatches to date from Apple and Samsung. Apple Watch Series 7 features an advanced Always On retina display that delivers a bigger, bolder user experience. Blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring also help you stay on top of your health and fitness.

The sleek Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic also put wellness front and center with workout tracking, advanced run coaching, and other features to help you exercise smarter. Trip detection and automatic SOS messages let you hit the trails safely.

Tablets

Loved for their portability and ease of use, tablets have also been popular this year. Models like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A7 Lite help keep you entertained on the go, with lag-free streaming and up to 1TB expandable storage for your photos, videos, and favorite movies. iPad Pro (2021)‘s compatibility with Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard give you a versatile working, editing, and viewing experience.

And the nearly pocket-sized iPad mini packs a full-sized punch, with A15 Bionic chip, USB-C and 5G connectivity, and a 12MP ultra-wide front camera. Pair it with AirPods Pro and listen to the ultimate 2021 holiday playlist anywhere in your home.

Tech trends to expect in 2022

More 5G. As smartphone performance expands and improves, users will need wider, more capable networks. The continued Verizon 5G expansion will allow even more people nationwide to experience better streaming, working, and sharing.

More AI. According to Forbes, AI (or artificial intelligence) will become more commonplace. Apple Siri, Google Assistant, and Samsung Bixby are all examples of widely used AI that help you search, shop, and organize your life more efficiently on the go and at home. Look for more AI integration and AI-driven services in 2022.

More Security. As our lives and tech are increasingly interconnected, our personal information becomes greater targets for theft or exploitation online. Companies will make strides for more security and transparency about how your data is used.
