Holiday tech tips to make your holiday traditions merrier

November 21, 2025|

The holidays are officially upon us and that can easily be an overwhelming thought. But it doesn’t have to be! Our tech specialist, Pedro Quadros, has some holiday tech tips to help you tackle the season with ease and expertise. From taking the perfect pictures, to connecting with long-distance loved ones, to helping you make your favorite holiday recipes, here are Pedro’s top pointers for enhancing your holiday traditions.

Connecting from anywhere

One of the most frustrating things about the holiday season is often how far out of reach all your favorite people are. Travel can help, but it can also be too expensive and too unreliable. The frustration is doubled if your loved ones live in another country or on the other side of the globe. But distance and other barriers, like language, can be surpassed with a little help from great tech.
“Me, personally, I have a lot of family members in Brazil,” says Pedro. “My wife doesn’t speak Portuguese and it’s a little bit hard to communicate with people that don’t speak English. So, there’s a feature called Live Translate that helps facilitate that.”
Features like Live Translate can be found on all the latest smartphones from Google, Samsung, and Apple and provide a way to reliably communicate with anyone and everyone. And the connection doesn’t have to stop there, with features like Share Play on Apple devices or Live Sharing on Android you can watch your favorite holiday movies alongside your family on Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, and more no matter how far apart you are.

Help in the kitchen

No holiday is complete without a kitchen chock-full of savory meals and delicious desserts made with love. But with all that holiday treat goodness comes the inevitable mess.
“Just having a tablet really helps with stuff like that. When it comes to making food, I always use my iPad to the side, so I don’t have to keep my phone out and get it dirty. Especially with baking,” says Pedro.
Using a tablet or even a stand for your smartphone can be a holiday baking game changer. No need to scroll and go searching for the recipe on a smaller screen. The whole list of steps and ingredients stays on one screen, big enough to glance at during your mad dash to make the best holiday cookies for your next party.
“Or if you already know what you’re doing,” Pedro adds, “just having it for Netflix in the background is awesome.”

Holiday photos and editing

Holidays are meant for capturing the little moments and what better way to do that than taking the perfect photo? According to Pedro, Android phones like Samsung S25 Ultra have the best quality cameras for taking holiday photos. With 200 MP cameras and AI enhancements when zooming in on all the details, your snapshots of decorations, holiday lights, and merriment will come out looking sharp and stunning.
Editing those great pictures can seem a lot tricker than taking them, though, especially if you’re not familiar with the process. But the built-in AI features on the latest smartphones can make photo editing as simple as the press of a button. Adjust your filters, dial up or down light effects, and crop out unwanted background objects to your hearts content. But Pedro’s favorite tip is even simpler.
“Just do it. I know this sounds a little bit cliché, but just getting the phone out and setting it up somewhere and recording it or taking a picture — being part of the moment. Because with the cameras, especially on the newer phones like iPhone 17, Pixel 10, and Samsung S25, there’s very little editing that the normal person has to do to get an Instagram or Facebook worthy shot.”

Gift giving

The most exciting and sometimes hardest part of the holiday season is figuring out what gifts to get everyone on your list. Some people are easy to shop for and make it even easier by sharing detailed wish lists on sites like Amazon. But others can be the tough to shop for. But not to worry, Pedro has a strategy for dealing with even the most nonchalant or picky giftee.
“I have people that don’t like to ask for things in my family, so I ask AI to generate a list of questions to understand the recipients likes and wants. Once I am done with the process, I usually know exactly what to get them,” he says.
Whether you’re trying to find presents to fit your budget or find the right gift for your special someone, a little AI help can go a long way. Here is Pedro’s prompt if you’re interested in trying it out for yourself:
“Generate a list of 5–10 thoughtful questions one by one so we can learn about a person’s interests, hobbies, and personality so I can find the perfect Christmas gift for them. The questions should help reveal what makes them happy, what they value, and what kinds of experiences or items they’d appreciate as a present. Avoid generic questions like ‘What do you want for Christmas?’ — instead, make them fun and conversational.”
With these tech tips for the holidays, you can take on shopping, celebrating, and connecting with confidence and breathe a little easier knowing that you have the support you need to make it through all the cheerful chaos.
