I watched the Samsung S26 launch event so you don’t have to. Let’s get into some key features.

So starting off strong, the S26 has got the world’s first built-in privacy display. What this means is that you’ve got a privacy screen built into your phone that you can turn on and off at will. It’s so customizable that you can even make certain parts of your display private while the rest remains visible to others. For example, notifications from unknown senders or certain senders that you don’t want other people to see.

Most notable on the S26 camera is the new Nightography feature. The aperture on the rear camera of the S26 has undergone significant upgrades, so this way you can film and take pictures at night without any sort of graininess like what you would normally deal with.

This phone uses AI as infrastructure. It’ll give you ‘Now’ nudges to remind you about appointments that you maybe never put in your calendar, but you got a confirmation email for.

Samsung is also partnered with Google Gemini so that your phone can do advanced tasks in the background while you’re using it as you normally would. For example, let’s say you’re slammed at work, but you’ve promised your family that you’ll pick up dinner on the way home, and they’re all arguing in the group chat over what to order. You can tell your Google Gemini to build an order based off of the group chat while you’re still using your phone as you normally would. It will do all of this in the background and notify you when they’ve made a decision. At that point, you can just check the order, make sure everything’s good to go, and place it.

Last but not least, there have been significant improvements to battery life. You’ve got up to 31 hours of video playback before your phone dies, and the battery charges 75% in just 30 minutes.
