Hum Makes Your Car Smarter

It’s a PhD for your car.

Lots of things have turned “smart” lately: our phones, our houses, our water … and now, our cars.

If your car is newer than 1996, you can connect to Hum by Verizon. Plug it in and get ready for your car to learn a whole lot of new tricks.

There are three levels of Hum. There’s the free Hum app with access to features like Safety Score, Navigation and Local & Travel Discounts. Then, there’s Hum+ with over 12 features, including a speaker that connects you to mechanics or emergency services, and an OBD Reader, which plugs into the diagnostic port in your vehicle. There’s also Humx, which has all this, plus a mobile 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot.

With Hum, your car is suddenly able to communicate with you about some pretty important things. For example, Hum gives you status updates on your car’s health. It can also detect when you’ve been in a wreck, and contacts emergency services—even if you can’t. Plus, it helps you find your way around and helps you improve your driving skills with safe driving tracking. (A pretty important feature if you’ve got a teen driver, or an aging parent.)

Vehicle Health Updates, Maintenance Tracking and More!

If you’ve ever experienced car trouble—you know, sluggish starting…strange noises…the usual—and then taken your car to the local auto parts store, you may have noticed they can plug in a handy little device to “ask” your car what’s wrong with it.

Hum+ does that, and emails you the results.

Once you plug the device into your onboard diagnostic port, you have instant access to information like car battery life, coolant temperature, issues with the electrical or Hum gear and appmechanical system, drive train, emissions… the list goes on. If you’re a DIY mechanic, Hum gives you the trouble shooting tools you need, right up front.

Or, you can take your ailing wagon into the shop (Hum can hook you up with a mechanic, too!), armed with knowledge about what’s happening.

Hum also keeps you on track with maintenance reminders like oil changes and air filter replacements.

24/7 help for car trouble

Your Hum subscription includes roadside assistance! Find yourself with a flat tire, smack in the middle of nowhere? Hum’s got your back.

So … where’s the car?

See where your family’s cars are, and where they’re going. Hey, remember that time you forgot where you parked at the mall?  With the Vehicle Location function in the Hum app, you won’t have to wander to find your car. No more need for a hot-pink, flying pig antenna topper … unless you just like it.

Safety. Score!

Based on driving habits like acceleration, speed, braking, cornering and phone use while driving. The app’s Leaderboard function lets you measure your safety score against friends and family. Who’s your family’s safest driver?

You can also set driving boundaries and speed alerts, and receive alerts when your teen exceeds the limits or leaves specified areas.

Hum app: Safety Score, Navigation, Local & Travel Discounts. Free.

When you’re planning your next vacation, check your Hum app for discounts on hotels, flights, activities, concerts, bike tours and rentals … this app has the power to help you rock your next trip, without going over budget!

Hum tracks your daily mileage, so you can check mileage history, or keep track of your teen’s driving habits. The app tracks gas mileage, too.

Plus, when you have Humx by Verizon, it turns your car into a mobile WiFi hotspot, so you can take the Internet with you wherever you go!
