It can be hard to relax and decompress amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Things may be stressful and uncertain right now, but these stress management apps can help you take a step back, center yourself, and find some peace.

 

Headspace (iOS & Android)

Headspace is a meditation and mindfulness app that helps you stress less, focus more and sleep better. It offers guided meditations, breathing exercises, quick workouts, sleepcasts to help you fall asleep, and more. In light of the current pandemic, Headspace created a new collection of content to help manage stress and anxiety called “Weathering the Storm” and have opened up their full Sleep Aid collection for free for the next few months.

 

Stop, Breathe & Think (iOS & Android) / Stop, Breathe & Thinks Kids (iOS)

The Stop, Breathe and Think app helps you find peace anywhere. It allows you to check in with your emotions and offers you content based on how you’re feeling that day. You can also find guided meditations, a customizable breathing timer, yoga and acupressure videos, and more. The Stop, Breathe & Think Kids app offers content built specifically to help kids learn to breathe, be calm, sleep soundly and safely resolve conflicts.

 

Simple Habit (iOS & Android)

Simple Habit calls itself “a meditation app for busy people”, providing meditation and sleep therapy sessions by world-renowned experts. It was also featured on the season premiere of Shark Tank in 2017. Simple Habit announced it is currently offering free premium memberships to “all people who are financially impacted by this difficult time and can no longer afford to pay” amid the global COVID-19 outbreak.

 

Balance (iOS)

Balance, a personalized meditation audio app, is also offering free one-year subscriptions throughout the month of March. Balance asks you questions every day about how you’re feeling and what you want to focus on, then serves you dedicated audio meditations to help. The more you share over time, the more personalized and effective the meditations become.

 

Happy Color (iOS & Android)

If meditation isn’t your thing, try Happy Color. Happy Color is a digital coloring book, allowing you to color beautiful illustrations with the tap of your finger. Coloring books have proven to be relaxing and therapeutic to adults and children alike, taking your mind off your stress and focusing it on creating something beautiful.

 

Apple Music (iOS & Android)

Music is another great way to relax and cope with stress. Apple Music hosts a handful of curated playlists specifically for staying calm and staying centered. Check out this playlist called “Unwind”.
