“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
– C.S. Lewis
There are few people in our lives who truly understand our joys, our pain, and our hearts like our best friends do. Having that person to confide in and lean on when life gets tough makes all the difference.
Saturday, June 8th is National BFF Day, so we’ve compiled a list of fun apps you can use with your best friend! Whether it’s playing a silly game, sending memes to each other, or just keeping in touch, these apps are a great way to stay connected with your bestie.
BFF App #1: Garagua Photo Challenges
Garagua is a unique photo-sharing app where you can complete special photo challenges and share them with your friends.
Inside the app, there are categories like “”Spontaneous” or “Everyday Life” that contain several smaller prompts, like “High Five a Stranger” or “Street Art.” The challenge is to take a photo that you think fits the prompt perfectly. For example, you could post a photo of a really cool wall of graffiti under the “Street Art” prompt. The challenge isn’t considered complete until you’ve shared your photo on social media or sent it to your friends.
Garagua is an entertaining way to stay in touch with your best friends and share inspiration with one another.
“Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.”
– Woodrow T. Wilson
BFF App #2: Marco Polo
Marco Polo is a great app for chatting on-the-go. You can record a quick video telling your best friend about your day or just pop in to say hello whenever you have a moment to talk, even if your schedules don’t match.
Your best friend can watch your video in real time and send emojis to show they’re listening or catch up later. You don’t need to be live to see your friend’s message, and your video messages don’t disappear once they’ve been seen.
Sometimes, text on a screen just doesn’t give you the whole picture. Having spontaneous face to face conversations with your best friends can make you feel more connected and involved in each other’s lives.
“A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.”
BFF App #3: Heads Up
Made famous by Ellen DeGeneres, this hilarious game is the perfect pick-me-up after a rough day. The object of the game is to guess the word on the card correctly. However, the card is displayed facing outward on your phone where you can’t see it. Your best friend must try and describe the word without accidentally saying it. You’ll have to sing crazy songs, talk in different accents, and try to name celebrities by what movies they played in. The possibilities are endless!
This game can be played with one friend or with a whole group, making it perfect for parties or get-togethers.
“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
BFF App #4: Evil Apples
If you and your best friends love playing Cards Against Humanity, Evil Apples is the perfect game for you. Three or more players are required to play, but it’s guaranteed to be hilarious and maybe a little dirty.
The game is easy to play – each player is given seven white cards to start with. All players are then shown one Red Card. The goal is to play a white card from your hand that would best fit the Red Card, or at least make the “judge” of that round laugh. Once the Judge selects the best card, whoever played it will be awarded 1 point. The first player to 7 points wins the game.
There’s also an in-app chat option where you and your friends can chat, joke around, and tease each other. You can play with friends nearby using GPS or join your friends anywhere using SMS, Twitter, or Facebook.
“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate. “
– Linda Grayson
BFF App #5: Voxer
You may have played with walkie talkies or at least thought they were cool as a kid. If you really want to feel nostalgic with your best friend, but still effectively communicate… try Voxer! Voxer is a messenger app that allows you to communicate in real time just like walkie talkies or other push-to-talk devices.
If you can’t chat in real time, no worries. All messages are saved for later so you can play them back, save them or share them. There’s also a text feature where you can send texts, photos, videos and GIFs just like any other messaging app. Plus, with the group chat feature and a location sharing feature, you can stay connected to as many of your friends as you want.
Voxer is a unique and nostalgic way to connect with your best friend in real time and stay in touch.
